Winter 2020 Wrap Up

The 2019/2020 competition tour was certainly one to remember this year. The momentum just seemed to keep on rolling all year long.

Coming fresh off the wins and podium finishes during the Florida winter circuit, Sean Jobin and Darius scored to big back to back Open Welcome victories at the World Equestrian Center in the Spring Series.

Following up on this impressive start, Sean and Banco Du Moulin posted an impressive 8th place in the pairs first CSI2* Grand Prix in Tryon, picking up valuable points and prize money. Following several more exciting top five and podium finishes in Grand Prix’s all over the country, Sean capped off an exciting National series tour with a 3rd place finish on Banco in the prestigious $50,000 Betsy Memorial Grand Prix in Lexington Kentucky.

Following the summer tour, Sean was invited to compete in the 2019 Canadian Championship at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, ON. Opting to give the younger Banco a rest, Sean and Darius would go on to place 5th Overall out of all Canadian combinations. With this placing, Sean was awarded the coveted wild card spot in the CSI4* week in Toronto and went on to take 7th and 4th place finishes during the international week against riders like Mclain Ward, Ben Maher and Eric Lamaze, considered to be the best of the best competition showjumping has to offer.

With little time to rest, the 2020 Ocala Winter series came quickly but the team was certainly up for the challenge. Sean and his string posted impressive top 5 finishes in the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix and the $100,000 HITS Ocala Grand Prix, as well as a top eight finish in the $200,000 Ocala Electric Utility Grand Prix. To put a nice finish on such a memorable show series, Sean Jobin was accepted to compete in the 30th Anniversary Live Oak International, where he posted a clean round and top ten finish in his first ever World Cup Qualifier.

While Covid-19 has certainly put a damper on our plans for the 2020 Summer Series which was to feature exclusively FEI rated international competition for the first time, the Double Clear team is content to continue training and developing while we excitedly wait for what the future holds!
